"The Ten Genuine Things" by Lord Gampopa

To have faith in karmic cause and effect is the genuine view of a being of lesser capacity.

To realize all phenomena within and without as the four-fold union of appearance-emptiness and awareness-emptiness is the genuine view of a being of middling capacity.

To realize the three aspects of the observed, the observing, and one who has observed as being inseparable is the genuine view of a being of highest capacity.

To abide one pointedly on one’s focal point is the genuine meditation of a being of lesser capacity.

To abide in the meditative concentration of the four-fold union is the genuine meditation of a being of middling capacity.

To abide in a state of non-fixation without separating the three aspects of what is meditated upon, the meditator, and the meditation practice is the genuine meditation of a being of highest capacity.

To observe karmic cause and effect as if protecting one’s own eye is the genuine conduct of a being of lesser capacity.

To practice in accordance with how all phenomena are dream-like and illusory is the genuine conduct of a being of middling capacity.

To engage in nothing whatsoever is the genuine conduct of a being of highest capacity.

However much the entirety of one’s self-clinging and afflictions decrease and become pacified is the genuine sign of progress for all three kinds of beings: the highest, middling, and lesser.

These are the ten genuine things.

There's no difference between that and meeting me in person."

"Ten Things That Are a Great Kindness to Oneself" by Lord Gampopa

To abandon the anger and attachment of secular affairs and practice the divine dharma is a great kindness to oneself.

To leave home and friends and rely on a sublime being is a great kindness to oneself.

To do away with worldly busyness and engage in study, contemplation, and meditation is a great kindness to oneself.

To leave your neighbors and acquaintances behind and remain alone in isolation is a great kindness to oneself.

To sever one’s attachment to sense-pleasures and remain steadfast without attachment is a great kindness to oneself.

To be content with the bare necessities and be free from desire for nice things is a great kindness to oneself.

To be firm in your commitments without handing over your independence to others is a great kindness to oneself.

To accomplish the lasting bliss of enlightenment without seeking after the short-term pleasures of this life is a great kindness to oneself.

To abandon clinging to entities as real and incorporate emptiness into your experience is a great kindness to oneself.

To strive in combining the two accumulations [of merit and wisdom] and not leave your three doors [of body, speech, and mind] in an ordinary state is a great kindness to oneself.

These are the ten things that are a great kindness to oneself.
